I then joined up with Mary to make a swede on the film Fight Club. We begun by listing the key signifiers in the film that our audience would recognize. We thought the fight club, fighting and soap dealing. These would be the scenes we would depict we decided to make a trailer because put together they are very elliptical. We then looked more closely researching trailers and the film itself to pick out the key elements.

We then designed the story board:
We would start with a close up of the character playing Tyler that would tilt down to a close up of him opening the door

To add relevant mise en scene we chose the costumes of Tyler and the Narrator as close as we could to the real film. We chose the office for selling the soap because it looked derelict and signified something and not quite right. We chose the skips in school for the fight scene because we thought it looked most like New York where the film is set. To add comedy we bought the soap but instead of engraving all of them with the words "Fight CLUB" we added words like "lol","kiss me", "fat club" and "fit club". Also to create blood and add humour in the fight scene we used tomato ketchup. In the original film we see flashes of pornography but instead in ours we put a flash of a cat.
We added the music because it was tense and brought a relevant tension as was in the actual film. In the fighting scene you may notice that some shots were shot without a crowd and some with to stop the obvious change between the two we copied and pasted the crowd sounds over both shots. We added a phyco laughing sound to signify this about the Narrator. We lowered the volume of the music whenever the dialogue was spoken and faded it back up again but created Audio bridging to signify the piece was all one.
To edit we firstly ordered the scenes in chronological order. We then cut all the unwanted outtakes. We slowed down the first few shots to signify tension making them black and white to signify Tyler as evil these together create narrative enigma as to the significance of the case. We fade up into colour as the case is opened to signify the colourful fortune of business and speed up to signify the tension is broken when the dialogue begins. The pace is slow to begin with but increases as the action increases. We juxtapose the binary opposites of a violent image of fighting with the friendly image of a cat to create humour. We then added the text to be white on a black background to show that the timing of the trailer is elliptical.
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Our film recreated the original well but wasn't as humorous as it could have been to follow the conventions of a swede.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
It represents men stereotypically by Tyler being professional in the business of the soap and the men being violent as signified by the fighting. Although the women in it were represented stereotypically out of power by having few lines there is counter typical representation signified by the fact the woman in it is involved in the professional selling of soap. It fails to represent anything other than white people a stereotypical representation. It represents all it's character's as youths mischief click also they are all able this is a stereotypical trait.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Since this film is a swede a medium such as Youtube would be the distributor.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience would be a younger local audience who may know the characters, of low class E-C1 and British.
How did you attract/address your audience?
We tried to attract our audience by using modern widely youthfully liked music, adding humour and giving characters to actors that are opposite to their personality.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
To make this film better I would add more humour, speed up or cut out more of the beginning making sure the action is still matched between shots, make the intended mise en scene such as the soap humour clearer by shooting them in the best light and using shots of them a lot, make new sound files instead of copying and pasting ones to create better verisimilitude, study text better the text in this film was not a font to that in the original "fight club" and use more diverse shot types to keep the audiences
